JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two teenagers were shot in less than an hour of each other late Thursday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The first incident occurred at 10:40 p.m. on Thursday night in the 1000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. Police say that a 17-year-old boy was driving eastbound on MLK when an unknown suspect in a dark blue vehicle began shooting at the victim.
The victim was struck and drove himself to the hospital. He is expected to be OK.
It is unclear why the victim was shot at. Police don’t have any suspect information.
The second shooting involving a teenager occurred near Scott Park located on Hamilton Circle.
A teenage girl says she was walking near the park around 11:05 p.m. when she was shot. She was transported to the hospital by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue with minor injuries, she is expected to be OK.
JSO says they believe the girl was walking with a few people, and they are trying to locate them.
Police are interviewing witnesses from the scene; they are all cooperating.
JSO does not have any suspect information. It is unclear if the incidents are connected or not.
