Three dogs from K9s For Warriors donated to Jacksonville-area precincts

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Beach, Neptune Beach, and Atlantic Beach police departments each have a new member of the squad, thanks to the K9s For Warriors.

Three K9s were donated to the three precincts Tuesday morning.

These K9s will not be on the street but will offer emotional support to those inside the office that might need it.

The push to have emotional support comes after an officer took his life earlier this year.

“What really motivated us was when a police officer here in Jax Beach took his own life and we realized we had to get off the sidelines and do our part to help stop first responder suicide,” said Rory Diamond, K9s For Warriors CEO.

K9s For Warriors is a nonprofit that helps veterans who are struggling with PTSD.

K9s For Warriors’ managers of programs, Greg Wells, says the K9s will help law enforcement in stressful situations.

“Having your dog to just touch, it lowers your heart rate. It lowers your blood pressure,” Wells said.
