Expensive parts stolen from at least 7 cars in St. Augustine neighborhood

There’s no clear suspect information after expensive parts were stolen from at least seven vehicles in a quiet St. Augustine neighborhood.

Incident reports show the vehicles were mainly along Whispering Circle, with one also on Whispering Woods Lane. Some of the vehicle owners told investigators that their cars had only been unattended for a few hours in the middle of the day Sunday, although the exact timing of the vandalism is not clear.

Some of the vehicles had their exhaust pipe cut, some had stolen catalytic converters, some had stolen oxygen sensors- and some had all three. Investigators say many victims only noticed the theft after turning on their cars and realizing things were operating louder than normal.

St. Johns County Sheriff’s deputies say there is no surveillance footage in the area, and nobody living there reported seeing anything suspicious during the window in which these crimes occurred.
