The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office are both actively investigating a fatal deputy-involved shooting in Callahan.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were responding to a domestic call at a home on Nassau Oaks Drive around Friday at 12:00 PM, where a man armed with a knife was threatening to harm another man within the home.
When deputies made contact with the armed man, investigators say one of the deputies shot and killed him.
That deputy has been placed on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
The sheriff’s office says this is still a very fluid situation with more details to come.
