Jacksonville — A man Clay County deputies say crashed a car while trying to get away from a traffic stop, and then ran off, has been arrested. The Sheriff’s Office says it started as a DUI investigation and the driver of the car refused to stop. That driver was later identified as Daniel Westbrook, 32, after deputies arrested two people inside the car with him on separate charges. They are Jerome Persons, who was taken into custody for allegedly having brass knuckles in his pocket, and Kristina Furman was arrested for allegedly having a warrant for her arrest.
Deputies said Westbrook was driving without a license and possibly had a warrant out for his arrest in Marion County.
Westbrook is charged with fleeing police, driving without a license, leaving the scene of an accident and vandalism. His first court date is Wednesday.
