Jacksonville, FL — The Florida Department of Education has recommended all public schools remain closed through at least May 1st for the health and safety of students, staff and the community.
Clay and St. Johns County Public Schools announced they will continue with online/remote learning through May 1st.
Duval County Public Schools announced late Monday night that it will remain on home-based education because of the FDOE recommendation. Students will continue receiving instruction through the district's new home-based education initiative, Duval HomeRoom.
Duval was one of the first public school districts in Florida to launch a home-education program last week. The district has provided more than 30,000 laptops to students. Additionally, internet access has been provided through special offers from private providers and distribution of hot spots to students who need them.
DCPS continues to provide lunch and breakfast to students at its traditional schools. Meals are also delivered to students on neighborhood elementary school bus routes.
Baker County School Superintendent Sherrie Raulerson released the following statement: “The Governor of Florida has mandated additional days for school closure through Friday, May 1, 2020, as a result of concerns relative to the COVID-19 virus. I will continue to update you as I get additional information”.

To our SJCSD students and families, we know some apps have had intermittent technical difficulties and we've been reassured that the vendors are working hard to have these resolved asap. Thank you for your flexibility and patience as we navigate online learning together!👍
