Governor Ron DeSantis activates Florida National Guard to respond to ‘potential civil unrest’

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued a new executive order Friday evening, activating the Florida National Guard in response to reports of potential civil unrest.

In a statement from his office, he says the Florida National Guard will be coordinating and supporting the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in its efforts to provide support to state and local law enforcement.

The order takes effect immediately and is currently set to remain in place until January 24, 2021.
