Happening Tonight: Gateway to Clay Collaborative Kickoff Meeting

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A public event will bring together the residents and Clay County officials to discuss improvements to the Wells Road community in Orange Park.

The event is free to the public and will be held at the Courtyard Jacksonville in Orange Park, located off Wells Road, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. tonight.

Laura Christmas, Director of Communications with the Clay County Board of Commissioners describes the overall mission for tonight’s event.

“The goal and the vision of Gateway to Clay is to improve the safety, security, and the operability of the Wells Road corridor, to improve the quality of life for residents,” Christmas says. “Another goal is to increase business opportunities and refresh the overall look to create a Gateway to Clay that Clay County residents can be proud of. So that’s our goal for the initiative. It has been our goal and we’re looking forward to this meeting tonight to hear from residents, business owners, and our stakeholders to see what they would like to continue or add to future those efforts.”

Clay County officials will be present as well to discuss resident ideas and concerns.

Some of the officials included are the Clay County Board of Commissioners and first responders from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fire and Rescue Department.

“If you have a passion about something or you’d like to see a change, a great way to start that change is by sharing your voice and that’s what we want our residents to do tonight,” Christmas says.
