The man accused of sexually assaulting a developmentally disabled teen on a Jacksonville-based cruise ship has pleaded not guilty in federal court.
23-year-old Brian Holland is charged with aggravated sexual abuse for the incident earlier this month. Investigators say he inappropriately touched the victim while they were in the hot tub on the Carnival Elation. Court records indicate the victim's injuries were corroborated by a medical exam, while on the ship.
A judge previously denied Holland's release, saying he is a flight risk. He could face life in prison if convicted, and has two prior battery convictions.
Holland will be back in court April 16th. His trial is tentatively slated for early May.
