Jacksonville starts phase 2 of reopening Friday

Jacksonville is moving into phase two of reopening Friday along with most of the state.

Mayor Lenny Curry says the city will follow the guidance from Governor Ron DeSantis, which allows bars to reopen at 50 percent capacity indoors and full capacity outdoors as long as proper cleaning policies are in place.

“We cannot afford to be complacent,” Curry says. “The virus is with us, and if we continue on this path of reopening our communities we must learn to move forward responsibly.”

DeSantis is letting entertainment venues like movie theaters, concert houses, auditoriums and play houses open again at 50 percent capacity as well.

“I’m glad that Governor DeSantis is taking these steps to reopen more parts of our city and our economy,” Curry says.
