NW Jacksonville’s Yancey Park reopens after months of renovations

Jacksonville, FL — After months of renovations, Northwest Jacksonville is celebrating the grand re-opening of a major staple in the community — Yancey Park.

According to the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Jacksonville, the park’s renovations were funded in part by a $100,000 grant from the NFL’s Grassroots initiative.

LISC says some of the park’s upgrades include new Bermuda grass turf fields, a new scoreboard, and a new irrigation system.

“We know that Yancey Park is more than just a park for this community,” says president of LISC Jacksonville, Janet Owens.

To celebrate the park’s re-opening, officials from LISC Jacksonville, the Jaguars, Northwest Jacksonville CDC and the City of Jacksonville hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony this evening.

“We are proud to have played a role in facilitating positive change for children and families who use this space to learn and grow,” says Owens.

Yancey Park is one of 12 parks that LISC Jacksonville has helped to revitalize in the city, according to LISC officials.
