Jacksonville, FL — A months-long investigation into the death of a 20-year-old Jacksonville man has wrapped up with 5 arrests in total.
The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office announcing the arrest of Race Arthur, 16, and Dakota Constantin, 17, in connection to the January 20th death of Kahlil Cooke.
Both suspects are charged with possession with the intent to distribute, while armed, as well as tampering with evidence. The sheriff's office says the State Attorney's Office decided not to pursue homicide charges, as the evidence shows their actions were based on self-defense.
During the drug deal, deputies say Cooke and another person began beating these two tens with brass knuckles, when one of them was able to pull away and grab a rifle, which was used shoot Cooke.
All face varying charges of non-premeditated murder, robbery with a weapon, and tampering with evidence.
