St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office searching for man responsible for hit-and-run

St. Johns County deputies are asking for your help figuring out who’s responsible for a hit-and-run that happened this weekend.

The incident happened Sunday night at the Winn Dixie Plaza on County Road 210 West. SJSO says the driver hit the woman and initially stopped to help, but witnesses heard the victim saying things like not to “touch her” because she was in pain. As those witnesses got closer to the victim- who was still lying on the ground- the suspect got in his vehicle and left the scene.

The vehicle involved is described as a light colored pick-up truck. The suspect is a heavyset white man in his 50s or 60s, who was wearing an orange jacket or sweatshirt.

The victim complained of hip pain, but has since been discharged from the hospital.

If you have any information about this incident or the suspect, you’re asked to contact SJSO’s Northwest District Field Office at 904-824-8304.
