20 year JSO veteran under arrest after domestic incident

Jacksonville — JSO says they have arrested one of their own following a domestic incident. Police say they’ve arrested, 20-year veteran with JSO, Lenell Boyer after a domestic dispute on Thursday.

Police say Boyer was having an argument with his wife when Boyer started to yell. Police say that’s when his wife put her hand over the Boyer’s mouth to keep him from waking  up the kids in the house. Police say when her hand was over his mouth, he bit her on her pinkie and the wrist.

“There is no reason for anyone to be forced to live in that kind of enviroment.” Says JSO spokesperson Mike Bruno.

Boyer is charged with domestic battery, which JSO says is a First degree misdemeanor.

JSO says Boyer will be held accountable both administratively and criminally for his actions. Boyer is still with JSO and is being reassigned to a report writing position within the department. JSO says the reason he’s still with the department is because of the civil service rules.

JSO says the incident happened between 6am and 7am on Thursday and the victim called police at around 5:30pm.

Police say this is the 10th JSO employee arrested this year.
