JSO identifies suspects connected to officer-involved shooting

Jacksonville, FL — They could be connected to eight or nine armed robberies, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office- but now they’re in police custody.

18-year-old Ejon Davis and 22-year-old Elijah Davis have been identified as the men who police were seeking in relation to several reported armed robberies, in an investigation that led to an officer-involved shooting. Ejon Davis has been arrested for three counts of armed robbery, burglary, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and Elijah Davis has been arrested for armed robbery, resisting an officer without violence, and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

WOKV followed developing details through the weekend, relating to an officer-involved shooting on the Northside. JSO says there was an undercover investigation targeting two suspects who had committed eight armed robberies on people in the prior 48 hours. The suspects allegedly used OfferUp, Letgo, and Facebook Marketplace to find victims, arrange a meet-up, and then rob them. Victims were able to provide suspect descriptions, which JSO says helped them in the investigation.

Police tracked the suspects through social media, and while sitting near Lem Turner and Soutel, they saw two men matching the suspect descriptions approaching. JSO says police saw one of the suspects holding something in his waistband, so they decided to get out of their vehicle and apprehend the men.

JSO says Ejon Davis immediately complied and was taken in to custody, but Elijah Davis fled on foot. An officer pursued and yelled "gun", before firing his JSO-issued rifle eight times, hitting Elijah Davis multiple times. Elijah Davis was taken to the hospital, where he is in stable condition, according to JSO. They have not disclosed how many times and where he was shot. He was absentee booked while still in the hospital, so no mug shot is yet available.

Police say both men had guns on them at the time they were caught.

While Ejon Davis is charged with three armed robberies and Elijah Davis is charged with one, JSO says they’re still actively investigating at least nine reported armed robberies, for any connection to these suspects.

The officer involved in this shooting is 3-year veteran K.L. Semones, who has not been involved in any shooting incidents before. He is on administrative leave, per protocol.
