JSO: Man arrested after allegedly robbing Pizza Hut in Bayard, while wearing surgical mask

Jacksonville, FL — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is announcing the arrest of armed robbery suspect who tried to target a Bayard-area Pizza Hut.

According to the incident report we've obtained, police were called about a burglary in progress at the Pizza Hut at 12515 Philips Highway in Suite 112, this past Saturday night.

Officers say they saw a man, wearing a surgical mask, pacing back-and-forth and then enter the store and approach an employee. The report says the officers saw that employee looking scared, as she handed over cash.

When the man tried to leave, police confronted him and were able to place him in handcuffs. The report says a replica firearm was found in his waistband, leading to an armed robbery charge.  The suspect has since been by police identified as Kevin Hopper II, 35.

WOKV is working to learn if JSO believes Hopper is the same suspect who robbed this same Pizza Hut location wearing a surgical mask back in March.

The suspect in that incident was also tied to an April 7th robbery at the Domino’s Pizza at 12200 San Jose Boulevard.

Around that time, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said a man, also wearing a mask, was photographed robbing two gas stations in the Northwest part of the county.
