JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Action News Jax has confirmed that an officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was hit by a car while chasing after a suspect Thursday night.
JSO said the officer was running after a suspect wanted in a domestic incident when the officer was hit. They suffered serious injuries which required surgery and will “have a long road to recovery”.
The driver of the car reportedly stayed at the scene and is cooperating.
The sheriff’s office said the incident “highlights the inherent dangers officers face on a daily basis while serving our community”.
