Jacksonville, FL — A man is dead and two masked gunmen are on the run after a shooting in Durkeeville in broad daylight.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says they were first notified about the shooting by ShotSpotter, which sent an alert about multiple gunshots in the area of W. 5th Street and Whitner Street at around 12:50 PM on Wednesday. Shortly after, police say they also got two 911 calls about someone being shot.
When officers arrived, a black man in his 30's or 40's was found lying in the street with a gunshot wound. Police say Jacksonville Fire Rescue declared him dead.
Police say a witness reported seeing two masked gunmen, possibly in a blue, four-door sedan, shooting at this man. We're told some 15 to 20 shots were fired.
Investigators say this happened in the exact area where two people were shot Tuesday night, so the two incidents are believed to be related. Anyone with information about either shooting is asked to call either JSO or First Coast CrimeStoppers.
