Original story:
You might want to give your self a few extra minutes if you take US 1 through Jacksonville’s southside and into St. Johns County. JEA says through the end of the week, periodic lane closures will happen between 9AM and 4PM along the right lanes on Philips Highway, just north of Race Track Road.
The utility says the road closures are needed to install new electric power lines across Philips near Race Track Road to the new Nocatee substation and the contractor will be shutting down traffic for 5 minutes to pull the wires across the road. They will then release traffic after the 5 minutes of work is completed. We’re told this process will continue through this Friday.
JEA says temporary lane closures will continue on Race Track Road between St. Johns Parkway and Philips Highway between 9AM and 4PM through November 30th.
