Jacksonville — Thursday marks the end of an era.
After 15 years as President of the University of North Florida John Delaney's final day as president is today. In March we told you when the State of Florida confirmed Dr. David Szymanski as the next president at the university.
Delaney says the transition out of the office has been bitter sweet.
“Got a lot of close friends, I like the mission, I like what the facility do. I just think it’s a terrific university.” Delaney says.
He says as the university moves forward he would like to see the school keep on recruiting high quality students and facility.
“Just like to keep being a better version of what we are.” Delaney says.
He says next up for him is he’d like to take the summer off, but he says he’s already doing some other work for a law firm and a lobbying group.
Dr. David Szymanski’s first day as UNF President is Friday.
Thank you, President Emeritus John Delaney for 15 years of success! We will miss your leadership and wish you the best in the future. Once an Osprey, always an Osprey! #loveUNF pic.twitter.com/XHklvXnt6Y
