One man faces life in prison for a murder at a Westside car wash.
Shawn Devernon Shanks received the sentence Friday for the August 2009 murder of Willie Bell III. The two had a verbal argument as a car wash on McDuff Avenue and Shanks refused to leave although two of his friends were trying to take him away. He then pulled out a handgun and shot Bell in the face. Bell died on the scene.
Shanks is a three-time convicted felon. He was found guilty of Murder in the Second Degree and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon in September.
