Mac Brunson to lead final sermon at Jacksonville’s First Baptist Church

Jacksonville, FL — Saying he sensed the call of God on his life to move to another venue of ministry, Mac Brunson will lead his final sermon Sunday as Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church.

Brunson announced his resignation last Sunday.  In a statement, First Baptist says that rumors of a scandal happen whenever a pastor leaves, but no such scandal exists at First Baptist or in Dr. Brunson’s ministry.

Brunson came to Jacksonville in 2006 from First Baptist Church in Dallas.  During his time in Jacksonville he oversaw an expansion of the church and the creation of First Baptist Academy.

“We are grateful for the years of service rendered by Dr. Brunson and his wife Debbie. We wish them all the best in their future ministry endeavors, and Dr. Lambert hopes to welcome them as guests at First Baptist very often in the future”, read a statement from First Baptist Church.

Dr. Heath Lambert will continue to serve in his role as Senior Pastor.
