Man arrested in November 2018 Jacksonville murder

Jacksonville FL — A man was arrested for a murder that happened nearly a year and a half ago.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced Ray Smith, 39, was arrested Monday and faces charges for murder and armed burglary.

Police say in November of 2018, Smith knocked on the door of a home on Jammes Road and when someone answered the door, he forced is way inside, hitting a person multiple times in the face. Another person in the home told police he or she heard a gunshot and called for police.

The person hit in the face died a month later because of the injuries, JSO said.
