Man sought for questioning after encounter with young girl in St. Augustine

Jacksonville, FL — The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help identifying a 'suspicious' person wanted for questioning in connection to an odd encounter in St. Augustine.

The sheriff's office tells us a man in his 60's reportedly asked a young girl, under the age of 12, to come over to his vehicle to pet his dog.

Her parents told deputies that the incident happened between 2:45- 2:55 PM on Monday, on Corunna Street in St. Augustine.

We're told there was actually a dog in the man's vehicle, which was described as either a brown or blonde Yorkie wearing a pink harness, named Pixie.

The girl's parents say she did not approach the car, but the suspect kept calling out to her. She eventually said no and ran away.

That man is described as a white man in his 60's, with short gray hair, brown eyes, and gray-colored stubble on his face. We're told he had fairly wrinkled skin. The girl also told deputies that the suspect was not heavy and not particularly muscular either.

It's believed he was driving a silver-colored, four-door Honda Civic that had gray seats.

If you believe this composite resembles someone you know, you're urged to contact the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office Special Victims' Unit at (904) 824-8304.
