Jacksonville, Fl — The morning after celebrating her historic win as Jacksonville’s first female mayor in its 200+ year history, Donna Deegan tells Jacksonville’s Morning News she will stay true to her values, which are Jacksonville values.
“As long as we are putting people first and bringing people into the process and making sure that our policies are always very people-forward, I think we’re going to be OK.”, Deegan told Jacksonville’s Morning News.

Deegan says she knew it would take a coalition of all parties to win a tough race against Daniel Davis, and she admits that’s how she wanted to win.
She plans to speak with Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters soon and look past political rhetoric that got ugly during the campaign.
“In addition to putting more officers on the streets, we need to focus on things like literacy and food desserts and other things that contribute to what ultimately are higher crime numbers.”, Deegan said.
Her first order of business will be to ‘open the blinds and let transparency in’, then quickly begin work on her three pillars which includes appointing a Chief Health Officer.
