More reward money offered for information on two unsolved Jacksonville murders

Jacksonville FL — Wednesday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced they were recently made aware of an enhanced reward for information on two separate murders in Jacksonville. They say, now through June 30th, up to $9,500 is available for information leading to an arrest thanks to the Florida Association of Crime Stoppers.

JSO says they are looking for information from two separate murders, one from 2015 and the other in 2020. Police say back on Wednesday, October 28th, 2015 officers initially responded to a vehicle fire on Hyde Park Road on Jacksonville’s Westside and after the fire was out officers were led to a home miles away on Harlow Boulevard with the information they got from the license plate of the charred vehicle. We’re told when officers arrived, they discovered the victim 61-year-old Bradla Cook with several blunt force trauma injuries on her body which ultimately led to her death.

In the other case, JSO says they are looking for information related to a shooting at a gas station from August 3rd, 2020 on Edgewood Avenue and Avenue B in Northwest Jacksonville. Police say their investigation so far has shown the victim, 31-year-old Brittany Matthews, drove into a parking lot of a gas station, and as she got back in her vehicle a suspect approached and shot her multiple times. We reported back in August when police were looking for two people who they believe had information on the shooting. JSO says eventually the suspect then fled the area in what was later discovered as a stolen vehicle.

If you have any information on either of these incidents you’re asked to contact JSO at 904-630-0500 or you can email tips to JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org. You can also remain anonymous and call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
