Jacksonville FL — An officer-involved shooting was reported at Lem Turner Road and Trout River Boulevard after an alleged armed robbery Saturday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Officers saw the suspect, John Ridder, 39, try to commit the robbery with a butcher knife, police say. Ridder ran away and an officer then chased after him. The officer asked Ridder to drop the knife, and when he did not comply, the officer made a failed attempt to taze him.
One shot was then fired by the officer, hitting Ridder. There were no injuries to the officer, and the suspect has been transported to a local hospital in stable condition, police say.
