One dead in shootout between people in two vehicles south of downtown Jacksonville

Jacksonville, FL — A wild encounter overnight between two vehicles ends with one person dead and several people being questioned by Jacksonville Police.

It started just before Midnight near Pottsburg Creek along Beach Boulevard, in the Sans Souci area.

According to JSO, gunfire was exchanged between two vehicles at the intersection of Pottsburg Dr. and East Rd. A gunshot victim was driven to Memorial Hospital, where the person died.

Police say an infant was in one of the vehicles and was not hurt.

JSO detained people from both vehicles for questioning.  So far no charges have been announced.

The individuals involved may have known each other, according to JSO.
