Only isolated storms forecast today, increasing in coverage later in the week

Rain coverage looks to be less than a quarter of the area and mainly inland today.

Jacksonville, Fl — The edge off our heat and humidity continue with morning lows in the upper 60s and low 70s. This afternoon will be in the upper 80s, no higher than average, with only a few showers and thunderstorms well inland.

Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says rain coverage will increase to roughly 40% of the area on Wednesday, then 50% by Thursday and into the end of the week.

Temperatures Friday and Saturday will be in the upper 80s.

TROPICS: Hurricane “Nicholas” made landfall near 1:30 AM EDT this morning about 10 miles west-southwest of Sargent Beach, Texas. The storm will begin to weaken this morning as it moves to the north and eventually the northeast. No direct local impacts from Nicholas. We be tracking near the Bahamas later this week for potential development (looks to move near or offshore of the Carolinas). There is a tropical wave just off the West Coast of Africa that is expected to develop over the next few days as it moves westward.
