Perfect weather as millions of travelers start their Thanksgiving holiday

NORTHEAST FLORIDA — The First Alert Weather team is tracking cold temperatures in the forecast Wednesday, so pack a coat before hitting the road this Thanksgiving.

Some areas of Northeast Florida woke up to patchy frost. Action News Jax Meteorologist Garrett Bedenbaugh says temperatures will reach the lower 60s this afternoon. Tonight temperatures drop to near 40 degrees, setting us up for a really nice holiday.

On Thanksgiving Day it will be dry with morning temperatures in the 40s. By the afternoon there will be mostly sunny skies with temperatures reaching the upper 60s.

Overall, travel weather is looking good all day across the Southeast. AAA predicts nearly 3 million Floridians will be heading to Thanksgiving destinations. Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says even nationally there are no significant storm systems, but the volume of people at the airports will definitely still be an issue.

Shoppers already planning their Black Friday routes can expect a nice and mild day.
