Police searching for armed suspect following northside shooting

Jacksonville, FL — Police are searching for a possibly armed suspect in connection to an overnight shooting in the Norwood area on Jacksonville’s northside.

Around 1:20 am Wednesday, Jacksonville Sheriff’s officers arrived at the 800 block of Essex Street, off Norwood Avenue near I-95, when they found a victim shot in the upper torso. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

JSO is describing the suspect as a black man dressed in a blue hoodie, orange camo pants, a blue face mask, and armed with a semi-automatic handgun.
