Jacksonville, FL — The St. Johns River Ferry is expected to be out of service another two weeks, to undergo repairs to the propeller shaft.
WOKV first reported last week that the Ferry was removed from service because it suffered damage when a submerged rope got tangled in the propeller. Today, the Jean Ribault was removed from the water, and an initial inspection confirmed the damage, according to JTA.
Repairs to the propeller shaft are currently estimated to take two weeks.
“We want to thank our customers for their patience, as we work through this unfortunate set of circumstances. We know how vital the St. Johns River Ferry is to the more than 263,000 customers who’ve taken a ride since January,” says a statement from JTA Spokesman David Cawton.
JTA is vowing to complete the repairs as quickly as they can safely do so.
