Shooting on Jacksonville’s westside is 17th in 11 days

Jacksonville, FL — At least one person was shot at a home on Jacksonville’s westside early this morning. Jacksonville Police were called to Seaboard Avenue and detectives on-scene were tight-lipped about what specifically happened.

This is the 17th shooting incident since Monday, October 7th in Jacksonville. In a handful of these incidents, more than one person was shot.

Late on Thursday, JSO says it responded to Edenfield Road in reference to a person shot. Officers were not able to find a scene or a victim. But a short time later an off-duty officer at a local hospital said that a victim arrived at the hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

JSO says the victim was shot during an attempted robbery.

As for what happened, police believe there was a fight on Pearl Street, with some of those involved then traveling to W. 23rd Street. What led up to the fight remains under investigation.
