A St. Johns County School District employee has been suspended, following his arrest in a child molestation investigation.
The arrest report for 34-year-old Zachary Bass is heavily redacted, because of the nature of the investigation. The available information shows a victim under 12-years-old told a family member that she had been inappropriately touched by the suspect for a year or more. The victim said the suspect had touched the victim, performed oral sex on her, made her touch him, and other lewd acts, according to the arrest report.
Bass’ arrest report lists his employment as a janitor with the St. Johns County School Board, but a Spokesperson for SJCSD clarified he works for the District. The St. Johns County School District confirms to us that he has been suspended with pay. His suspension letter says a full investigation will be done by Human Resources, but during this time he is not allowed on District property unless instructed and is also prohibited from talking to any co-worker, parent, or student about this matter.
He has been arrested for lewd and lascivious battery on a victim under 12-years-old. Jail records show he was arrested Friday night and released around 1AM Saturday on a $100,000 bond.
