Sunday storms give way to hot week ahead

Jacksonville, Fl — Sunday’s storms produced significant rainfall around JAX Airport and into Nassau County. Other areas of Jacksonville received less than half an inch of rain.

The National Weather Service reported a short-lived tornado near I-95 and I-295 on Jacksonville’s northside at 1:45 pm. It was rated an EF-0 based on doppler readings. There were no reports of damage or injuries.

Action News Jax Meteorologist Alyssa Pejic is tracking a mostly sunny sky today with highs in the 80s at the beaches and 90+ well inland. Only an isolated afternoon shower/ storm today. Most neighborhoods will remain dry.

A few isolated afternoon storms will pretty much be the forecast for this week. However, temperatures will heat up to the mid 90s inland by Wednesday and Thursday.

Thursday is expected to be the hottest day of the week with temperatures inland near 95.

Coverage of the showers/storms increases for the weekend and temperatures fall to around average in the upper 80s.
