Suspect in Racetrack Road double-fatal hit-and-run has been arrested

The man sought in connection to a hit-and-run crash on Racetrack Road that killed two bicyclists is now in jail.

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office identified Henry Haigler III as their suspect in this case on Tuesday. Jail records show he has now been booked in to the St. Johns County Jail. SJSO says Haigler contacted them this morning over the phone and agreed to turn himself in.

Haigler was allegedly involved in the weekend crash on Racetrack Road. Investigators say debris from his car matched debris found on scene, and his vehicle was found to have damage that aligns with the crash.

No witnesses reported seeing the actual collision, but several provided information that helped lead to Haigler, according to SJSO. Several witnesses say he allegedly got out of his car and then got back in and fled the scene.
