Thief makes sandwich during second break-in at Jacksonville daycare

Jacksonville, FL — A daycare on Jacksonville’s northside has been broken into twice in less than 24 hours.

Juzt Kidz learning center was only closed for an hour when the owner came back with a trunk full of groceries to replace the ones that were stolen overnight.  When she walked inside she realized her daycare had been broken into a second time.

“In the kitchen they made a sandwich, they had breakfast items with syrup out,” Taki Starkes-Parrish said.

That’s all that was taken this time, a bite of a bologna sandwich on wheat bread.

“Just a bite of a sandwich, that’s it,” Starkes-Parrish said.

But she thinks she startled whoever was inside because other items were bagged up that weren’t when she left.

“All the cleaning items they had bagged up, they bagged up the refrigerator items and all the cabinet items,” Starkes-Parrish said.

The thief got in the same way this time as the night before by removing the cinder blocks in the back of the building.

“Now we have to pay for the repairs all over again, now we have to have the blocks reset again,” Starkes-Parrish said.

When the daycare was broken into the first time, thousands of dollars worth of stuff was taken, including a computer that contained the personal information of employees and children; things like names and birth dates.

Now she’s worried the thief will be back again.

“They’ve already come in the facility and already taken items now for them to come back within 24 hours to do the same thing -- they don’t care,” Starkes-Parrish said.

Police on scene said they plan on adding more patrol units to this area.
