Three people killed in separate hit and run crashes

Jacksonville, FL — The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is pushing forward with its investigation into a deadly hit and run that took the lives of two bicyclists on Saturday.

The crash happened Saturday on Racetrack Road. Witnesses in the area tell Action News Jax more than a dozen people jumped stopped to help the two people who were hurt.

"You never know what they can hear, so we were just like, it's okay, it's okay, it's going to be okay."

Witnesses in the area were able to call deputies for help and provide them with information about the crash along with the suspect vehicle. Thanks to that information, the Sheriff’s Office along with JSO was able to find the car after serving a search warrant but there was nobody home at the time.

The two victims have been identified but their identities will not be released according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The second hit and run happened during the overnight hours Sunday around 2:25 AM on Butler Boulevard near Gate Parkway. The crash report from the Florida Highway Patrol says a man was on a mini-bike when he was hit by a car. Troopers say several cars in the area hit the debris in the roadway.

FHP has not released any type of description of the suspect car – troopers are asking anyone who has information or was a witness to the crash to give them a call. The man’s identity has not been released.
