Mild and muggy to start off the new week here on the First Coast.
Action News Jax Meteorologist Garrett Bedenbaugh says the tropical air we’ve felt since last week will be sticking around for the next few days.
“We’ll be seeing a mostly cloudy sky for your Monday with mild and muggy conditions.” Garrett says.
Garrett says we could see some scattered showers near the beaches this morning. As we move into the afternoon, the showers are expected to move inland because of an onshore wind and gradually pick up after lunch time.
“We’ll see those heavy downpours being the main threats here. Some localized flooding possible since we’ve seen inches of rain in many locations, especially west of the metro, especially last week and continuing into this week.” Garrett says.
Garrett says areas west of Jacksonville could get 2 to 3 more inches of rainfall over the next 5 days.
Garrett says our temperatures should get up in to the upper 70’s to low 80’s closer to the coast and lower to mid 80’s inland with some lingering showers sticking around into tonight, especially west of Jacksonville, with temperatures dipping in to the 70’s.
