Jacksonville, FL — Tropical Depression #3 has formed in the Bahamas.
The National Hurricane Center says this system has maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, and is moving generally northwest at 13 mph. The NHC expects the system to turn toward the north-northwest overnight, and then north-northeast Tuesday. The center of this system is expected to remain just off Florida’s east coast for the next day or so.
This depression is not expected to significantly strengthen, and should dissipate by Wednesday, according to the NHC.
Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says there will not be any major impact in Northeast Florida or Southeast Georgia, but you may see some heavy rain during the day Tuesday and in to Tuesday night, as the system moves by off the coast. Buresh says there could also be a higher rip current, from the possibly enhanced onshore wind.
