Tropical Storm Danny aiming for Georgia-South Carolina coast; local downpours and rip current risk

Jacksonville, Fl — Tropical Depression #4 has strengthened to become Tropical Storm Danny.

Action News Jax Meteorologist Garrett Bedenbaugh says local impacts will be minimal today.

“It’ll spread some rain and moisture across NE Florida in bands. We’ll see a few pockets of heavy downpours but that’s about it. A moderate to high rip current risk at area beaches”, said Bedenbaugh.

This storm will, at the very least, bring bands of gusty squalls into SE Georgia by midday today. There will be a high rip current risk as well at area beaches in NE Florida and SE Georgia.

Jacksonville will likely see a few heavy showers that roll off the Atlantic. A few heavy downpours/ thunderstorms will try to develop this afternoon inland as well. Some spots in SE Georgia could see 1-2 inches of rain close to the coast.

Tropical storm force winds are forecast to remain north of the listening area. There will likely be some gusty winds with any bands pushing off the Atlantic.
