Jacksonville, FL — From Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 24, Wolfson Children’s Hospital is holding its annual ‘Christmas in July’ toy and donation drive completely online because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Playtime is a crucial part of how children develop physically, cognitively, and emotionally. When children are sick in the hospital, they use toys and play to process their experiences and feel a sense of normalcy.
Child Life specialists use toys as tools, like showing a young child how blood draws work on a teddy bear or preparing them for the sights and sounds of an MRI using toy tunnels.
Anyone wishing to donate money or shop for toys from an Amazon wish list curated by Child Life specialists, can do so here.
Christmas in July is here – help us spread some cheer! Toys are a BIG part of the healing process for kids & help the hospital feel more like home.
