Woman shot in back near local elementary school

Jacksonville, Fl. — A woman has life-threatening injuries after she was shot in the back on Tall Pine Lane late Thursday night.

Jacksonville Police was originally called out to Tall Pine Lane, which is not too far from Justina Road Elementary about an apartment getting struck by a bullet. Upon arrival, JSO discovered a window was shot through but nobody inside the unit was hurt.

Soon after that, an off-duty officer working at a local hospital alerted police about the woman who was driven to the hospital by a witness. The witness was not injured in the shooting and is cooperating with the investigation.

Police did not release any type of suspect description.
