Pregnant woman shot, killed; baby dies after delivery in Philadelphia, police say

PHILADELPHIA — A pregnant woman was fatally shot and her baby, who was delivered afterward, is dead after gunfire erupted Friday evening in Philadelphia.

According to WPVI-TV, the shooting happened shortly before 6 p.m. while the woman and a man were inside a minivan near Dauphin and Ninth streets, authorities said. Authorities said as many as three men began shooting at the vehicle, striking the woman in the chest and the man in the shoulder and chest, the outlet reported.

The woman, later identified by family members as Ishan Rahman, 39, died at a nearby hospital, according to WTXF-TV. Doctors delivered the baby, who also died, authorities said.

Officials said the man was in critical condition.

Investigators have not arrested anyone in connection with the shooting, WPVI reported. No further information was immediately available.
