While some Florida lawmakers are pushing to make texting and driving a primary offense, WOKV obtained records showing how many tickets the Florida Highway Patrol issued for texting and driving.
According to the report, troopers issued 108 texting and driving related citations in Duval County since the ban went into effect in October of 2013. St. Johns County had 14 citations. Baker and Nassau both had two.
As the law currently stands, officers can only give out texting and driving citations if they pull the driver over for something else first.
Counties in South Florida saw more citations than the counties in North Florida.
