St. Johns County School District changes COVID reporting policy

St. Johns County — The St. Johns County School District sent a letter to parents and guardians asking them to use an online form to report positive COVID-19 cases.

The District says with the increase in cases right now, there’s an adjustment being made in the communication procedure when it comes to positive cases on campuses.

“When we receive information regarding a positive student, we will communicate to all parents in the classroom that there has been a positive case in your child’s class,” the letter says, “In the past, we have only communicated to close contacts. By making this adjustment, we can notify parents faster and more efficiently.”

If you would like to discuss the specifics of your child’s COVID case, you can also bypass the online form and call the District COVID Support Team at (904) 547-8230. The District is asking parents to monitor children for symptoms and keep them home of they are not healthy.

“We are in this together and will continue to work together to navigate this new normal,” the letter says.
