Jacksonville —
Jacksonville’s City Council members voted 14-1 to pass legislation that now requires members requesting monies for non-profits to disclose their role in the organizations as well as financial documents for themselves and their children.
Members must also compete for city grants through evaluations made by the Public Service Grant Council, the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville or the city’s procurement department.
The bill was introduced by Rory Diamond after four organizations who employed City Council members received monies in September by waiving the rule that required them to compete for grants.
