Former Florida Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll has landed a new job and is opening up about future political aspirations.
Carroll is now a senior advisor for Global Digital Solutions, Inc. where she will lead a company which produces grenade launchers and other military weapons. As former lieutenant governor of Florida she was responsible for all 20 military installations as well as served as the liasion between military services and the state. She says her experiences both on the legislative side and her 20 years of military expertise are valuable resources to Global Digital Solutions.
" All of that coupled with my experience on the legislative side and understanding the military components and its needs, brings value to the company."
Carroll says the company will merge with Airtronic USA. After the merger, she will be the C.O.O. She plans on using her new position to create high-tech, high quality jobs in small arms manufacturing in Florida. It's a role she says she can't wait to fill.
"It's really in line with my expertise, my experience and my passion for making sure our military men and women have the best equipment so they can perform the tasks that we're asking them to do."
Carroll says the main manufacturer's the U.S. government uses are from overseas: Russia and China. She wants to change that by having high quality arms made in the United States. She says if grenade launchers are made efficiently it will save lives and give military personnel the tools they need to be successful.
"This is something I can embrace and move forward and make the business grow."
Although she landed the new position, Carroll says she hasn't entirely ruled out future political aspirations. She says, "That time will come around, I'm still young enough. Maybe after a couple of years in making sure this business really grows and prospers--that may be something I entertain."
Carroll resigned as Florida's Lieutenant governor in March following a gambling investigation. She says Florida Governor Rick Scott's Chief of Staff asked for her resignation following the investigation although she has not been charged with any crime.
Carroll says as she adjusts to her new life, she is thankful for the support and encouragement that came from people across the state of Florida.
"Thank you very much for being there for me and my family. It meant a great deal."
