JTA expands Reduced Fare Pilot Program

JTA is offering reduced fares to certain groups of customers.

More people are now eligible for the Reduced Fare Pilot Program through the Jacksonville Transportation Authority.

The offer runs through Sept. 30, and JTA says eligible customers can purchase a pass for an entire year.

The new eligible groups now include anyone receiving benefits through Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Women, Infants and Children (WIC), or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), along with anyone who qualifies for Section 8 housing.

Previously the program was only open to customers with qualified disability (including veteran disability), Social Security Disability (SSD), Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicare recipients.

Customers can purchase reduced fares through the Token Transit mobile app or through a JTA Reduced Fare STAR Card.

Here’s a breakdown of the prices:

• Single trip pass for $0.75 (discounted from $1.75)

• 1-day pass for $1.50 (discounted from $4.50)

• 31-day pass for $30 (discounted from $65)
