904 Day Breakfast kicks off day-long celebration of community

Jacksonville’s Morning News was live Friday at LIFT JAX 904 Day Breakfast, hosted at the VyStar Tower Downtown.

It may be just a day on the calendar, but September 4 has become a day of community pride as Jacksonville hosts a series of 904 Day events.

Jacksonville’s Morning News was live on location at VyStar Tower to spotlight the annual 904 Day Breakfast. It was hosted by LIFT JAX, a non-profit dedicated to eradicating generational poverty in the Historic Eastside.

The event brought business leaders across sectors to celebrate the city’s culture, honor community impact and build momentum for Jacksonville’s future.

Organizers honored the MyVillage Project for its work empowering young people, strengthening families and creating opportunities that help communities thrive across Florida.

“904 Day is a celebration of what makes Jacksonville special, our people, our neighborhoods and the partnerships that move our city forward,” said Travis Williams, President & CEO of LIFT JAX.

VyStar’s Vice President of Community Engagement Kemal Gasper joined Jacksonville’s Morning News to talk about the community engagement that’s come out of 904 Day.

Mayor Donna Deegan stopped by Jacksonville’s Morning News ahead of her keynote address at the 904 Day Breakfast to talk about the role that business and community groups play in elevating Jacksonville.

Jacksonville’s Morning News visited with Children’s Home Society Executive Director Kimberly Bennett, My Village CEO Ronnie King, and LIFT JAX CEO Williams.
